GOLIATH IS HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS!
May we introduce our gentle giant, Goliath! Goliath is certainly a big, big boy and he found himself hurt and in a shelter. Certainly not a good place for this sweet boy! He is safe in rescue now - enjoying life in foster care. He seemed to have suffered some sort of minor injury to one of his legs, and we will check him out - make sure everything is A-ok before he leaves us for his adoptive home. He is sweet and gentle - good with a leash, but may need some brushing up on his leash manners and of course, basic obedience skills at least. Goliath has a twinkle in his eyes and a smile on his face and he is very smart - he seems to know how to unlatch a gate - :) - and for this reason we know that he will excel at a training program - probably beyond that of basic. He will fit into just about any type of family, and will enjoy a nice walk with his people, a game of fetch perhaps in the back yard, and then some good quality time relaxing in front of the TV - or maybe just curled up at your feet while you read a book. Goliath has all the qualities that a loyal and loving companion should have. He is waiting to meet you.
5/6/11 - Goliath was found to have a torn cruciate ligament in one knee and a partial tear in the other. Despite being in pain, this big, gentle guy is as sweet as ever! He is affectionate and loves nothing more than to cuddle with his foster mom and can usually be found lying at (or on!) her feet. He is learning how to play with toys and learning what treats are too. Goliath thanks everyone who has donated towards his surgeries and sends big brown eye-melting gazes your way! If you care to make a donation, please know that Goliath appreciates any amount you can give. Thank you! 6/2/11 Goliath here! I just got back from a week at the beach with my foster parents and foster siblings and it was lots of fun! I liked the air and sand but I'm not too sure about waves and water. We traveled for a long time and I did just great: I hope I find a furever family that will take me places! The best news is that I am going to have my surgery next week: I am really grateful that ASR rescued me and is commited to making me well.. 7/6/11 - Goliath has had his surgery and is recovering....2 weeks with staples and the "cone of shame" are over and he is slowly progressing through his physical therapy and rehab, slowly growing back the hair on his leg and getting to take longer walks. His true personality is coming out now that he is feeling better: he is discovering the cats and will try to chase them but is easily called off (if there are cats in his new home they will need to be dog savvy). Goliath still loves his foster mom most of all, enjoys car rides and gets along well with his foster siblings. He does not like loud noises like thunderstorms and fireworks, however. Thanks to all who contributed to help defray the costs of Goliath's surgery! 8/20/11 - Goliath will be having his other knee operated on this week. He did very well with the first surgery and his left knee is almost as good as new! It is so wonderful to see him prance (yes, he prances!) and it is very apparent that the leg is no longer causing him pain: we are hoping for the same result for his right knee. Any donations towards Goliath's care are most appreciated - this wonderful big guy with the eye-melting gaze is going to be a wonderful addition to a lucky family! If you are not yet approved to adopt from All Shepherd Rescue, please fill out our application online at www.allshepherdrescue.com. Our Adoption fee is $250.00
