Bahama has been with ASR since she arrived in September pregnant and underweight.  Her 8 babies are in their forever homes and now it is Bahama’s turn.  She has earned full house privileges and gets along with 2 other female GSDs.  Bahama would already be adopted if her foster had room for a permanent third dog.

Bahama is a love.  She loves people of all ages!  She and a 4-year-old child were cuddled on the dog bed.  The dog bed was surrounded by toys since Bahama is a collector.  She will gather assorted toys, human and canine, and stock them by her bed.  She loves stuffed toys and marrow bones.  Bahama also loves to chase squirrels and chipmunks so I don’t recommend her around cats.

She came into the rescue with a slight limp and “cow hocked”.  We discovered she has a dislocated right hip.  She has bi-lateral hip dysplasia so her hip would easily dislocate and probably has been dislocated most of her life.  She has some pain when the hip is manipulated but she doesn’t hesitate to race round chasing critters in the yard and playing with one of her foster’s dogs.  ASR had Bahama evaluated by an orthopedic specialist and his report will be sent to potential adopters.  Part of the report reads” Bahama seems to be overall comfortable and a very acceptable quality of life as is, and could be adopted out in her current state.  However, based on her age and radiographic changes, it is doubtful that Bahama will make it into the older age range comfortably without some type of surgical intervention on one or both of her hips.”   The conservative treatment he recommends included weight management, exercise, supplements and T-relief for pain management.

Bahama is ready to meet you and steal your heart.
