CONGRATS, JERSEY MAX HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING!!!!!!

Hey, I’m Max!  My old family loved me very much, but when I was diagnosed with EPI, they couldn’t care for me, so they surrendered me to ASR, to find me another family.  Good move!  I am now living with a foster family with two other German Shepherds, and it’s pretty cool to be in a pack!  I’m 2 ½ years old, sable colored and handsome, and weigh 70 pounds, but ultimately I will weigh 80 to 85 pounds.  I’m very strong, alert, and active, and very loyal, attentive and affectionate to my peeps.  I love people, including children, and I like other dogs once I get to meet them.  I may even like cats, but please don’t tell anyone.  I like to play with a ball and look forward to my forever home.  I would like a nice family and maybe a pretty girl dog to be my friend.  A guy can only hope.

So here’s the scoop on my EPI (which stands for “Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency”):  it’s a gene-carried condition that some dogs have, that damages the pancreas.  My pancreas makes insulin just fine, but about a month ago, I stopped making digestive enzymes, which made it hard for me to digest food properly and I lost some weight.  I can live a perfectly long and normal life if enzyme powder is added to my food about a half hour before I eat my meals, but the family who adopts me will need to be willing to do this.  My old family had started to add the enzyme powder to my food.  My foster family is, of course, also continuing with the enzymes, and so now I’m feeling pretty good and am regaining the weight I had lost in the beginning.   Also, my foster family is taking me to obedience training and agility, and I like it a lot!  We should meet sometime – what do you say?  If you fill in an online adoption form and contact the nice people at All Shepherd Rescue, they can make it all happen!

Hope to see you soon!

Max
