Shep lost his home when his owner passed away and then found himself at the shelter.  Unfortunately he still does not have a permanent and forever home, but he is now with his foster family....and finally has some structure and calmness in his life.

Shep is a beautiful male German Shepherd.  He has a submissive and sweet disposition and maybe did not have the best of former homes - for he will cower when you pass your hand over his head as if to avoid being struck.  That is all past now...and we are working on building up his confidence and giving him lots of love and attention. Shep needs a few seconds to sniff and assure himself that you are indeed a friend and mean him no harm.......then everything is just fine.   He is a smart and loving boy - and he really needs a very good home! A course in at least basic obedience taken together with his new family would do wonders for Shep - both for his confidence and to help him be the well behaved and well balanced dog that will make his family proud of him. Shep is a rather quiet boy.......at least he is right now.... :) He is learning the ropes of his foster home and his new foster mom will post updates soon.

Update 5/30/2012: Shep has settled in very nicely. He has come along way.  He gets along well with the rest of my crew - and  that consists of both big and small dogs. He is learning to trust us and even comes to us now to be petted!!! Shep loves affection and to be with people. He is still a little skittish with new people, but doesn't take long to warm up to them. He really is great and has shown us he loves to play ball. Loved the dog park as well. He did sleep in our room for the first time last night, only 6 days after coming to us!!  It is truly amazing what a difference we have seen in him since getting him last week.  Shep is gonna make someone a great pet!!!
